Wellwood Orchard - Springfield
“We have multi-generations visit and share their memories of coming here as kids, and now they are bringing their own grandchildren.” –Roy Mark, Wellwood Orchard
Roy Mark and his four daughters (Aggie, Linda, Patty, and Sherrie) run this lively family business established 42 years ago in 1981. “And now our 7 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids help out as often as they can get away from their ‘real’ jobs and raising kids!” says Linda. All fruits (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, apples, peaches, pears, and plums) are PYO. Pumpkins, squash, and gourds are not PYO but are available prepicked.
Linda reports that, “Our country store is well stocked with jams and jellies, home-canned vegetables, local maple syrup and honey, handmade crafts, and many other unique gift items. Our famous apple cider donuts are available on weekends during strawberry season and apple season only. Freshly pressed apple cider is available in September and October. Homemade pies, muffins, turnovers, and big cookies are also popular.”
Wellwood’s petting zoo—perfect for children—includes many birds, goats, bunnies, calves, sheep, and pigs. Tractor-pulled wagon rides take place on weekends. Their annual Harvest Festival happens on September 2, with free wagon rides in the fields and orchard, food and craft vendors galore, and of course, guests can enjoy PYO fruit.
“It’s a joy to see new customers every year and a thrill to see them return with friends. We have multi-generations visit and share their memories of coming here as kids, and now they are bringing their own grandchildren. Family traditions are our favorite story!”
