As you head down Center Street in Rutland, it would be hard to miss Loose Loona Gifts and Tea House. A creative window with a large teacup mobile fills one side of the entrance. A colorful array of oversize tipped teacups inviting customers to “Spill the Tea” flanks the other. Upon entering, you find yourself in an expansive, bright green room with high ceilings, a chandelier, and an impressive, centuries-old, carved wooden staircase. This 1865 building originally housed the Tuttle Printing Press and, most recently, the Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum prior to becoming Loose Loona Tea House.
Now, it offers folks a chance to relax and enjoy the pleasure of a premium cup of tea. Customers can select from more than 90 varieties of tea on the menu that include A Monks Blend, Rose Emperor Black, Lovers Leap, Jasmine Orchard Oolong, and Maple Black. Each is distinctive with its own history.

Loose Loona Tea House offers folks a chance to relax and enjoy the pleasure of a premium cup of tea.
Beautiful cups and a perfect pour
Proprietors Michelle Cordeiro and Don Abrahamsen’s decision to open this charming teahouse was fueled by their desire to be part of downtown Rutland’s renaissance. As community-minded citizens and tea enthusiasts, they decided to offer a café menu and to establish a gift shop that offers a wide selection of eclectic and fun gifts. Among these items is a collection of gift baskets with a tea canister, tea, honey, honey dipper, and a tea bag dish—the perfect gift for tea-loving friends.
Loose Loona has a distinctive way of serving tea. The tea is steeped in small, colorful teapots and brought to you with a tea bag in a small dish for further steeping if desired. The tea is served in wide, smooth, shallow cups that you can fit your hand around. To highlight the color of the tea, the cup’s interior is light in color. Once the tea is poured, the aroma engages all your senses.
Settle in and select your pleasure here, including Nutcracker made with rooibos tea, almond, and papaya or the Winter Holiday blend of black tea, cinnamon, clove, jasmine petals, and rice flowers. Any selection here will not disappoint.
Michelle and Don’s philosophy is simple. “Tea is an everyday pleasure to enjoy with friends and family.”
